Maxolon 10mg Tablets are designed to help prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy and radiotherapy. They contain the active ingredient Metoclopramide Hydrochloride, which works by affecting a part of the brain that controls these symptoms. This medication is particularly useful for adults undergoing cancer treatment to reduce the discomfort associated with delayed nausea and vomiting.
Maxolon can also be used to treat nausea and vomiting caused by other conditions, such as acute migraine. It can be taken in combination with oral analgesics to improve the absorption of pain relief medication during migraines.
The tablets are scored and engraved with the name ‘Maxolon’ and contain lactose as an excipient. The recommended dose for adults is 10 mg, taken up to three times daily, with a maximum daily dose of 30 mg or 0.5 mg/kg body weight. The treatment duration is typically limited to 5 days.
Maxolon is also indicated for diagnostic procedures such as radiology and duodenal intubation, where it helps speed up the passage of a barium meal by increasing gastric emptying and coordinating peristalsis.
For children aged 1-18 years, Maxolon is used as a second-line option for preventing delayed chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting. The recommended dose for children is 0.1 to 0.15 mg/kg body weight, repeated up to three times daily, with a maximum dose of 0.5 mg/kg body weight in 24 hours.
