Baclofen 10mg Tablets for Spasticity Relief.
Baclofen 10mg tablets are a muscle relaxant medication used to relieve muscle spasms, cramping, and tightness caused by conditions such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, and spinal cord injuries. Each tablet contains 10mg of baclofen and 40mg of lactose monohydrate as an excipient.
This medication is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of muscle spasms in spinal cord diseases, including multiple sclerosis, spastic spinal paralysis, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, syringomyelia, transverse myelitis, traumatic paraplegia or paraparesis, and compression of the spinal cord.
Baclofen can be taken orally in either tablet or liquid form. The liquid formulation is particularly suitable for children or adults who have difficulty swallowing tablets. Dosage titration can be more precisely managed with the liquid form. The recommended dose is usually up to 60mg daily, but it may need to be adjusted to meet individual patient needs. A maximum daily dose of more than 100mg is not advised unless under careful medical supervision.
Some patients find that taking baclofen only at night helps counteract painful flexor spasms. Additionally, a single dose given about an hour before specific tasks like washing, dressing, or physiotherapy can improve mobility.
Common side effects include feeling sleepy and experiencing nausea. It is important to avoid drinking alcohol while taking baclofen, as it may increase drowsy side effects and make you very sleepy. If your doctor decides to stop your treatment, your dose will be reduced gradually over 1 to 2 weeks.
