Toujeo Insulin Glargine Injection

Toujeo is a long-acting insulin analogue designed to help manage blood sugar levels in adults and children aged 6 and above with diabetes. It is available as a prefilled pen containing 300 units of insulin glargine per milliliter. This medication is injected once daily under the skin in the abdominal wall, thigh, or deltoid region. It is essential to rotate the injection site with each use to avoid skin thickening and changes in insulin absorption.

Toujeo is not interchangeable with lower strength insulin glargine (100 units/mL). Regular blood glucose testing is necessary to determine the lowest effective dose. This medication is a replacement insulin that mimics the body’s natural insulin, helping glucose enter cells and reducing the symptoms and complications of diabetes.
