Cymbalta 60 mg is a medication used to treat major depressive disorder, diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain, and generalized anxiety disorder. It contains the active ingredient duloxetine, which increases the levels of serotonin and noradrenaline in the nervous system. The recommended starting and maintenance dose for adults is 60 mg once daily, taken with or without food. However, dosages above 60 mg can be considered up to a maximum of 120 mg per day, though there is no clinical evidence suggesting that higher doses provide additional benefits.

Each capsule is a hard gastro-resistant formulation designed to protect the medication from stomach acid. The 60 mg capsules are opaque green with a blue cap, imprinted with ‘60 mg’ and the code ‘9542.’ They are available in various pack sizes, including 28, 56, 84, and 98 capsules, as well as multipacks containing 100 or 500 capsules.

Cymbalta is not suitable for patients with liver disease resulting in hepatic impairment or severe renal impairment (creatinine clearance <30 ml/min). It is also contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to duloxetine or its excipients and in those taking nonselective, irreversible monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). Additionally, Cymbalta should not be used in combination with potent CYP1A2 inhibitors like fluvoxamine, ciprofloxacin, or enoxacin, as this can lead to elevated plasma concentrations of duloxetine.
