Candesartan Cilexetil 16mg tablets are used to treat high blood pressure in adults and children aged 6 to 18 years. Each tablet contains 16mg of candesartan cilexetil, which helps your heart work better by relaxing your blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. This can reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke.

The tablets are pink, mottled, and round, with one side debossed with “16” and the other side scored for easy division into equal doses. They also contain lactose and a small amount of sodium.

Candesartan cilexetil works by blocking receptors in your body that normally bind to a hormone called angiotensin II. This helps your blood vessels relax, allowing blood to flow more easily and reducing blood pressure. It is commonly prescribed for essential hypertension and may also be used to lower the risk of hospitalization and death for heart failure and heart damage, as determined by your healthcare provider.
