Karbinal ER Extended-Release Oral Suspension
Karbinal ER is an extended-release oral suspension used to treat various allergic conditions. It contains carbinoxamine maleate, an antihistamine that helps alleviate symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis, vasomotor rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, mild uncomplicated allergic skin manifestations like urticaria and angioedema, and dermatographism. Additionally, it can be used as therapy for anaphylactic reactions after the acute manifestations have been controlled, and to ameliorate the severity of allergic reactions to blood or plasma.
Dosage Information:
- Adults and Adolescents (12 years and older): 7.5 mL to 20 mL (6 to 16 mg) every 12 hours.
- Pediatric Patients (2-11 years): Dosage varies by age group:
- 2-3 years: 3.75 mL to 5 mL (3 to 4 mg) every 12 hours.
- 4-5 years: 3.75 mL to 10 mL (3 to 8 mg) every 12 hours.
- 6-11 years: 7.5 mL to 15 mL (6 to 12 mg) every 12 hours.
Product Details:
Each 5 mL of Karbinal ER contains 4 mg of carbinoxamine maleate. The suspension has a strawberry-banana flavor and is supplied in 16 fl oz (480 mL) and 1 fl oz (30 mL) bottles.
Important Information:
- Contraindications: Not recommended for patients with narrow-angle glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, or bladder neck obstruction.
