Adriblastina 10mg is a potent form of doxorubicin hydrochloride, a chemotherapy medication used to treat several types of cancer. This sterile powder for solution is designed for intravenous injection and is effective in treating breast cancer, osteogenic sarcoma, Ewing’s sarcoma, soft tissue sarcoma, small cell anaplastic lung carcinoma, and malignant lymphoma.
Therapeutic Indications
- Breast Cancer: Adriblastina 10mg is used to treat breast cancer, particularly in cases involving axillary lymph nodes.
- Osteogenic Sarcoma and Ewing’s Sarcoma: It is effective in treating these aggressive bone cancers.
- Soft Tissue Sarcoma: This medication is also used for soft tissue sarcomas, which are cancers that develop in the soft tissues of the body.
- Small Cell Anaplastic Lung Carcinoma: Adriblastina 10mg is used to treat a specific type of lung cancer known as small cell anaplastic lung carcinoma.
- Malignant Lymphoma: It is effective in treating both types of malignant lymphoma.
Dosage and Administration
The medication is usually administered via intravenous injection. The dosage is calculated based on body surface area, with a standard starting dose of 60-75 mg/m² per cycle for adults. Intravesical and intra-arterial routes may also be used as indicated.
Important Precautions
- Cardiac Toxicity: Doxorubicin can cause serious heart problems, including congestive heart failure, which increases with higher cumulative doses. Repeated assessments of left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) are recommended, especially with higher doses.
- Hepatic Dysfunction: Dose reductions are necessary in patients with elevated serum bilirubin levels. The medication should not be administered to patients with severe hepatic impairment.
- Other Precautions: It should be administered under the supervision of experienced physicians and after recovery from acute toxicities of prior cytotoxic treatments. Intravesical use may lead to urinary infections, inflammation of the bladder, and hematuria.
