Galvus

Galvus is a medication used to help control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. It works by blocking the breakdown of incretin hormones in the body, which stimulates the pancreas to produce more insulin when blood glucose levels are high. This helps to reduce blood glucose levels and manage diabetes effectively.

Galvus can be used on its own or in combination with other diabetes medications, such as metformin, thiazolidinediones, or sulphonylureas. It is also effective when used with insulin. The recommended dose is typically one 100 mg tablet in the morning and another in the evening, but it can be reduced to 50 mg once daily for patients with moderate or severe kidney problems.

Galvus is available by prescription only and should be taken as directed by your healthcare provider. It is important to monitor liver function before starting treatment and at regular intervals during use, as vildagliptin, the active substance in Galvus, has been associated with liver problems.
