Hepatect CP: Protecting Against Hepatitis B

Hepatect CP is a solution for infusion that contains human hepatitis B immunoglobulin, which helps protect against hepatitis B. This condition is an inflammation of the liver caused by the hepatitis B virus. Hepatect CP is used to provide immediate and long-term immunity in several situations:

• Preventing Hepatitis B Infection: For patients who have not been vaccinated or fully vaccinated against hepatitis B and are at risk of infection.
• Protecting Transplanted Livers: For patients who test positive for hepatitis B to prevent infection of a transplanted liver.
• Newborn Protection: For newborn babies whose mothers are infected with the hepatitis B virus.
• Enhanced Protection: For patients for whom hepatitis B vaccination has not provided adequate protection.

What You Need to Know Before Using Hepatect CP

• Allergies: Do not use Hepatect CP if you are allergic to human immunoglobulin or any of the other ingredients.
• IgA Deficiency: Avoid using Hepatect CP if you have an immunoglobulin A (IgA) deficiency, as this can lead to severe reactions.

How to Use Hepatect CP

Hepatect CP is intended for intravenous administration. It should be given to you by a doctor or nurse. The recommended dose will depend on your condition and body weight. Your doctor will determine the right amount for you. The infusion should start at a slow rate and may be gradually increased if well tolerated.

Possible Side Effects

Like all medicines, Hepatect CP can cause side effects, although not everyone experiences them. These may include severe allergic reactions, hypersensitivity reactions, headache, dizziness, faster heart rate, low blood pressure, nausea, skin reactions, fever, and malaise.

Product Details

Hepatect CP is supplied in vials containing 2 ml, 10 ml, 40 ml, or 100 ml of solution. The solution is clear to faintly opalescent and colorless to pale yellow. It should be stored in a refrigerator and brought to room temperature before use. The product must be administered immediately after opening the vial.

Precautions and Monitoring

• Monitoring Anti-HBs Antibody Levels: Patients should be monitored for serum anti-HBs antibody levels regularly to maintain therapeutic antibody levels and avoid underdosing.
• Hydration and Urine Output: Adequate hydration is necessary before the infusion, and urine output and serum creatinine levels should be monitored.
• Concomitant Use of Loop Diuretics: Avoid using loop diuretics during the infusion.
