Loperan is an effective antidiarrheal medication designed to reduce intestinal movements and secretions, which helps decrease the frequency of liquid stools. It is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of acute nonspecific diarrhea in adults and children over 12 years of age.

Loperan works by slowing down the movement of the intestines, allowing more time for water and electrolytes to be absorbed from the fecal matter. This results in harder, more solid stools, reducing the urgency and frequency of bowel movements. By decreasing peristalsis and fluid secretion, Loperan provides relief from diarrhea symptoms.

It is important to monitor patients for 48 hours after taking Loperan to detect any potential central nervous system depressions. If such symptoms occur, naloxone can be administered as an antidote. Additionally, activated charcoal may be given in case of accidental ingestion, followed by gastric lavage if vomiting has not occurred.

Loperan is available in 20 capsules, each containing 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride. It is a reliable option for managing acute nonspecific diarrhea, offering quick and effective relief from diarrhea symptoms.
