Aripiprazole 15mg Tablets for Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorder.

Aripiprazole 15mg tablets are a medication used to treat schizophrenia in adults and adolescents aged 15 years and older. It is also indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe manic episodes in Bipolar I Disorder and for the prevention of new manic episodes in adults who have predominantly manic episodes and responded to aripiprazole treatment.

Each tablet contains 15mg of aripiprazole and is white, round, and uncoated with ’64’ debossed on one side and ‘H’ on the other. The tablets are made with lactose monohydrate as an excipient.

For schizophrenia, the recommended starting dose is 10mg/day or 15mg/day, with a maintenance dose of 15mg/day. The effective dose range is 10mg/day to 30mg/day, although enhanced efficacy at doses higher than 15mg/day has not been demonstrated. For adolescents, the treatment should start at 2mg for 2 days, then increase to 5mg for 2 additional days before reaching the recommended daily dose of 10mg.

Aripiprazole is also used in children aged 13 years and older for the treatment of moderate to severe manic episodes in Bipolar I Disorder. It is available in various dosage forms, including oral solution and disintegrating tablets.

This medication is part of the atypical antipsychotic class and is known by the brand name Abilify. It is used alone or with a mood stabilizer to treat bipolar disorder and with antidepressant medication to treat major depressive disorder in adults.
