This product is part of the erythropoietin alfa family, which is very similar to the natural substance in your body that prevents anemia.

How It Works

Bioyetin 4000 IU/mL is administered as an injection under the skin or into a vein, typically 1 to 3 times a week. The dosage is based on the patient’s medical condition, weight, and lab results. For patients undergoing surgery, a special dosing schedule may be required to minimize blood loss. Hemodialysis patients should receive this medication via injection into a vein.

• Preparation and Usage: Learn all preparation and usage instructions from your healthcare professional. Do not shake the medication before use. Check the product for particles or discoloration before injecting; if either is present, do not use the liquid.
• Injection Site: Clean the injection site with rubbing alcohol before each dose. Change the injection site each time to avoid injury under the skin. Avoid injecting into tender, red, bruised, hard, or scarred skin.
• Storage and Discard: Store medical supplies safely and discard them properly.

Side Effects and Precautions

Common side effects include headache, body aches, cough, and injection site irritation/pain. If these effects last or worsen, inform your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Bioyetin 4000 IU/mL may cause high blood pressure, especially in patients with long-term kidney failure. High blood pressure should be well-controlled before starting treatment. Regular blood pressure checks are essential, and your doctor may advise on diet changes or adjustments to high blood pressure medication.

Rarely, this medication may stop working well after a period due to your body making antibodies to it. If symptoms of anemia return (such as increased tiredness, low energy, pale skin color, shortness of breath), inform your doctor immediately. Additionally, there is a risk of serious blood clots, which can be fatal. This risk is higher in patients who are severely dehydrated, have a history of blood clots, heart/blood vessel disease, heart failure, stroke, or are immobile. If you experience symptoms like shortness of breath/rapid breathing, chest/jaw/left arm pain, unusual sweating, confusion, sudden dizziness/fainting, pain/swelling/warmth in the groin/calf, sudden/severe headaches, trouble speaking, weakness on one side of the body, or sudden vision changes, seek medical help right away.
