Curidol: Effective Pain Relief for Moderate to Severe Pain
Curidol is a medication specifically designed to alleviate moderate to severe pain. It is a combination of tramadol hydrochloride and paracetamol, which work together to reduce pain perception and provide relief.
How It Works:
- Tramadol: Acts as an opioid analgesic by blocking the transmission of pain signals to the brain, thereby lowering pain perception.
- Paracetamol: Works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain.
Therapeutic Indications:
Curidol is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of moderate to severe pain. It is particularly useful for managing acute pain that is severe enough to require an opioid analgesic and for which alternative treatments are inadequate.
Dosage and Administration:
- Adults and Adolescents (12 years and older): The recommended initial dose is two effervescent tablets (equivalent to 75 mg tramadol hydrochloride and 650 mg paracetamol). Additional doses can be taken as needed, not exceeding eight effervescent tablets (equivalent to 300 mg tramadol hydrochloride and 2600 mg paracetamol) per day. The dosing interval should not be less than six hours.
- Paediatric Population: The effective and safe use of Curidol has not been established in children below the age of 12 years. Therefore, treatment is not recommended in this population.
- Older People: A dose adjustment is not usually necessary in patients up to 75 years without clinically manifest hepatic or renal insufficiency. In elderly patients over 75 years, elimination may be prolonged, and the dosage interval may need to be extended according to the patient’s requirements.
- Renal Insufficiency/Dialysis: In patients with renal insufficiency, the elimination of tramadol is delayed. Prolongation of the dosage intervals should be carefully considered according to the patient’s requirements.
- Hepatic Impairment: In patients with hepatic impairment, the elimination of tramadol is also delayed. Curidol should not be used in patients with severe hepatic impairment due to the presence of paracetamol.
Precautions and Contraindications:
- Opioid-Dependent Patients: Tramadol hydrochloride is not suitable as a substitute in opioid-dependent patients. Although it is an opioid agonist, it cannot suppress morphine withdrawal symptoms. Tolerance and physical and/or psychological dependence may develop, even at therapeutic doses.
- Severe Respiratory Insufficiency: Curidol is not recommended for patients with severe respiratory insufficiency.
- Cranial Trauma, Convulsive Disorders, Biliary Tract Disorders, Shock, Altered State of Consciousness, Respiratory Problems, Increased Intracranial Pressure: Use with caution in these conditions.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, dryness in the mouth, dizziness, and constipation. These are usually mild and disappear after a short time. Inform your doctor immediately if any rash or allergic reaction is observed while taking this medicine. If you are pregnant, thinking about becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding, ask your doctor before taking Curidol.
Important Information:
Do not stop using Curidol without asking your doctor. It is essential to take the medicine as directed and not to exceed the recommended dose. Avoid using any other paracetamol or tramadol hydrochloride containing products concurrently without the advice of a physician.
