Diamide

Diamide is a thiol oxidizing agent used in various biochemical applications. It is particularly useful for titrating protein glutathiolation, allowing researchers to differentiate it from other oxidative protein modifications. The compound is soluble in water and has a melting point of 104°C to 115°C. It is available in quantities of 100 mg and 500 mg, and its chemical name is (3E)-3-(dimethylcarbamoylimino)-1,1-dimethylurea. Diamide treatment increases protein glutathiolation in a concentration-dependent manner and has a comparably minimal effect on protein-protein disulfide formation.
