Fosfin Phosphine Gas Fumigant
Fosfin phosphine gas is a powerful tool for controlling a wide range of insects in sealed containers or structures. This inorganic phosphine gas is used indoors to eliminate pests effectively, making it ideal for non-food and non-feed commodities.
Key Features:
- Composition: Fosfin is a cylinderized, compressed gas containing 2% phosphine by weight (2.6% by volume) in carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide serves as both a propellant and a flame inhibitor, ensuring the product is non-flammable in air.
- Odor: While pure phosphine gas is odorless, technical-grade material often has a distinct “fishy” or “garlicky” smell due to the presence of substituted phosphines and diphosphines. However, this odor should not be relied upon as a warning of exposure.
- Application: Fosfin is applied at concentrations of 200-500 ppm, which is maintained for a period of 2-14 days depending on the temperature of the surrounding area.
- Use Restrictions: This product is a Restricted Use Pesticide due to its acute inhalation toxicity. It is only available for retail sale to and use by certified applicators or persons trained in accordance with the manual, under the direct supervision of the applicator.
Important Safety Information:
- Always follow the label and Application Manual carefully..
- Phosphine gas should never be used alone for fumigating structures or commodities due to the risk of explosion and fire..
