Heparin Injection 25,000 Units.
Heparin Injection 25,000 Units is a sterile, nonpyrogenic solution prepared from heparin sodium, derived from porcine intestinal mucosa and standardized for use as an anticoagulant. This medication is used to prevent and treat conditions caused by blood clots, such as thrombophlebitis, pulmonary embolism, coronary or venous thrombosis, and occlusive vascular disease. It is also used to prevent blood clots from forming during surgery, dialysis, or blood transfusions.
Heparin Injection works by decreasing the clotting ability of your blood, helping to stop clots from forming in the blood vessels. It does not dissolve existing blood clots but can prevent them from becoming larger and causing serious problems.
This product is available in a 250 mL EXCEL IV container, containing 25,000 units of heparin sodium in 5% dextrose solution. It is administered by intravenous injection and is not made with natural rubber latex, PVC, or DEHP. The potency is determined by a biological assay using a USP reference standard based on units of heparin activity per milligram.
For specific dosing instructions, consult your healthcare provider. Heparin Injection may be contraindicated in patients with a history of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) or known hypersensitivity to heparin or pork products. Always follow the recommended dosage and administration guidelines to ensure safe and effective use.
