Norepinephrine Bitartrate 2mg Injection is a concentrated, potent medication that must be diluted in dextrose-containing solutions before infusion. This drug is supplied in sterile aqueous solution in the form of the bitartrate salt, designed for intravenous administration following dilution. Norepinephrine is sparingly soluble in water, very slightly soluble in alcohol and ether, and readily soluble in acids. Each milliliter contains the equivalent of 1 mg base of norepinephrine and sodium chloride for isotonicity. The pH of the solution ranges from 3 to 4.5, and the air in the ampules has been displaced by nitrogen gas.

Norepinephrine functions as a peripheral vasoconstrictor through its alpha-adrenergic action, helping to increase blood pressure. It also acts as an inotropic stimulator of the heart and a dilator of coronary arteries through its beta-adrenergic action. This medication is used to control blood pressure during various hypotensive states and as an adjunct treatment during cardiac arrest.
