Pharmacology
Profenid E 100 mg works by inhibiting the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are key mediators of inflammation and pain. It also stabilizes lysosomal membranes and inhibits leukotriene synthesis, contributing to its anti-inflammatory effects. The drug is rapidly absorbed from the GI tract and is approximately 99% bound to plasma protein, mainly albumin. It is extensively metabolized in the liver, primarily through conjugation with glucuronic acid, and is excreted mainly in the urine.
