Xerosec Capsules: Effective Relief for Gastric and Duodenal Ulcers
Xerosec Capsules are designed to provide long-lasting relief from gastric and duodenal ulcers. Containing 20 mg of omeprazole, these capsules are ideal for treating conditions such as NSAID-associated ulcers, gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD), and acid-related dyspepsia. They work by reducing stomach acid production, helping to heal and prevent ulcers.
Indications
- Gastric and Duodenal Ulcers: Xerosec Capsules are effective in treating both gastric and duodenal ulcers, especially those caused by NSAIDs.
- GERD and Acid Reflux: They help manage gastro-esophageal reflux disease and long-term acid reflux.
- Acid-Related Dyspepsia: Suitable for treating symptoms of acid-related dyspepsia.
- Prophylaxis: Used as a preventive measure for patients with a history of NSAID-associated ulcers.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Helps manage severe ulcers caused by Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
- Helicobacter pylori-induced Peptic Ulcer: Part of a regimen to eradicate Helicobacter pylori bacteria.
Dosage
- Adults: 20 mg once daily for 4 weeks for duodenal ulcers, 8 weeks for gastric ulcers. For severe or recurrent cases, the dose can be increased to 40 mg daily.
- Maintenance: 20 mg once daily for recurrent duodenal ulcers, 10-20 mg daily for prevention of relapse.
- GERD: 20 mg once daily for 4 weeks, continued for further 4-8 weeks if not fully healed. Higher doses of 40 mg daily may be required for refractory cases.
- Long-term Management: 10-20 mg daily for long-term management of acid reflux disease.
- Prophylaxis of Acid Aspiration: 40 mg on the evening before surgery and 2-6 hours before surgery.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Initially 60 mg once daily, with a usual range of 20-120 mg daily. For doses exceeding 80 mg, the dose should be divided into two parts.
Administration
- Oral: Swallow the capsule whole with water.
- IV Injection: For patients where oral medication is inappropriate, an IV injection of 40 mg once daily is recommended. The IV infusion should be given over a period of 20-30 minutes, dissolved in 100 ml saline or 5% Dextrose. The solution should be used within 12 hours when dissolved in saline and within 6 hours when dissolved in 5% Dextrose.
Important Notes
- Pediatric Use: For children over 1 year old, the dosage depends on body weight. For body weights between 10-20 kg, 10-20 mg once daily is recommended for 4-12 weeks. For body weights over 20 kg, 20-40 mg once daily is recommended for 4-12 weeks.
- Contraindications: Consult your doctor before taking Xerosec Capsules if you have any underlying medical conditions or are taking other medications.
