Clotrimazole Vaginal Cream for Yeast Infections.

Clotrimazole vaginal cream is a medication used to treat vaginal yeast infections. It works by stopping the growth of yeast, which causes the infection. This cream is available in two strengths: 1% and 2%. For adults, the typical dosage is one applicatorful inserted intravaginally at bedtime for either 3 nights (2% cream) or 7 nights (1% cream).

This cream helps reduce symptoms such as vaginal burning, itching, and discharge. It is an azole antifungal, making it effective against fungal infections. However, it is not recommended for children and should only be used for confirmed fungal infections. If you experience fever, chills, flu-like symptoms, stomach pain, or a bad-smelling vaginal discharge, you should contact your doctor as these could be signs of a more serious infection.

Clotrimazole vaginal cream is available over-the-counter and is often used under the brand name Gyne-Lotrimin. It is essential to confirm your diagnosis with a KOH smear and/or cultures before starting treatment, and if the treatment is ineffective, reconfirm the diagnosis before repeating therapy.
